About

Lindsey started her PhD in February 2024 at the University of Nottingham Hearing Sciences – Scottish Section, which is funded by and in collaboration with WS Audiology. She holds an MSc in Audiology from the University of Manchester and has worked for several years in clinical roles within the UK National Health Service in both audiology and ophthalmic and vision sciences.

Research Interests

Lindsey is investigating the impact of hearing ability on social participation, and social acclimatisation after hearing aid fitting. It is a clinically relevant topic, which will positively contribute to understanding and help to drive improvements for the hearing loss population. The first objective is establishing a working definition of social participation followed by a series of studies to obtain a comprehensive picture of social participation in people with hearing loss via ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and social network analysis (SNA). University of Nottingham supervisors are Dr Jack Holman and Prof Graham Naylor, and WS Audiology supervisors are Dr Karolina Smeds and Dr Gitte Engelund.
