Raluca Nicoras

About

Raluca Nicoras is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, Hearing Sciences – Scottish Section. She completed her PhD in 2025  with a thesis titled “Operationalising Success in Group Conversations for People with Normal and Impaired Hearing”.  Both her PhD and postdoctoral research have been funded by and conducted in collaboration with WS Audiology. Raluca holds both a BSc and MSc in Psychology and is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society

Research Interests

Raluca’s research focuses on understanding how people communicate in complex everyday situations, particularly when conversations take place under challenging conditions such as background noise, hearing difficulties, or increased cognitive demands. Her work explores how conversational success can be defined, measured, and predicted, and how communication behaviours contribute to successful interaction.
